[00:00] All right, well, um Genesis, let's do this, right?
[00:05] Um, you know, it's interesting as you know, we're digging into it and as those who prepare so, um
[00:12] You know, i'm teaching this week ram is teaching next week
[00:15] Then we have second sunday and then chris is teaching the third week and you know, so, um
[00:19] Excited about it. But as you know, you look into it it's daunting, you know
[00:25] um, I honestly think I probably
[00:28] Unsurprising got the easiest part
[00:31] All right, um teaching this, you know teaching the first two verses today and then
[00:37] Um, you know ramen and chris have the heavy lifting over the next few weeks. So, um
[00:43] You know, I appreciate them stepping in and being willing to do that. Uh excited about it, but you know, genesis is so great
[00:49] um
[00:51] I mean just it's
[00:53] That god gave us this book right like
[00:56] He didn't have he doesn't owe us that right and yet he did right. He gives us this word this this this book and you know
[01:02] The just the opening words of genesis
[01:06] Sets the stage for all of scripture
[01:09] You know how we understand or how we think about the beginning
[01:14] influences our understanding about everything that follows
[01:19] And so it's vital
[01:24] Right when we look at it, and I think sometimes we those who of us who have been saved for a while christians for a while
[01:30] It's like in the beginning god created
[01:33] it's like
[01:36] Like just sit in that
[01:38] For a while and think of all that means
[01:40] And we're gonna talk a little bit about what that means today
[01:43] but in the beginning
[01:46] right god
[01:48] Now doesn't mean that in the beginning god
[01:52] Was formed
[01:54] Right. It means that he forms the beginning
[01:57] And everything that is to come
[02:01] And so i'm just uh, i'm excited about it. Um
[02:05] It's not always easy and and and I think in genesis there's room for debate
[02:10] Right. There's some room for debate about you know what it means because as we talked about last week
[02:14] We don't know all he doesn't give us all details
[02:17] And so, you know people have for years have debated about different things and we'll talk a little bit about those things today
[02:21] And I said we're not going to spend a lot of time on those things
[02:23] But we'll talk about some of them just a little bit in passing more than anything
[02:27] And i'll kind of repeat this thought but it's okay to have some debate on some things that aren't really that important
[02:34] Details, you know that doesn't say it's okay to have some debate on that
[02:37] Where where it's not okay really debate on for christians
[02:41] Is that god
[02:46] was before all things
[02:48] He created all things and he's in all things
[02:51] Right. That's not up for debate for that. That shouldn't be right. That should be core
[02:57] Tenant of our faith and you know, i've been in student ministry for many many years
[03:01] You can tell by my face right and the lack of hair, right?
[03:05] a lot of a lot of years in student ministry
[03:08] And year after year we'd send you know, the kids go off to college
[03:12] And they would man so many of them would have this great faith
[03:18] And i'd be like man, right? They are you know, they're just living
[03:21] They come back the first year
[03:25] you know
[03:27] still pretty okay, maybe
[03:29] You know faith-wise belief in what they've always been taught
[03:32] Second year a little bit less maybe third year even a little less and by the time they graduate they're like, yeah
[03:38] the god
[03:41] it's god really
[03:42] you know
[03:44] And and and you know, i've been i've been harping on this for years and years, right?
[03:48] Like parents like you gotta be involved and your kids go to school because they're going to be indoctrinated
[03:54] It's not some kind of weird thought. That's just the way it is like my daughter
[03:58] She would send me information. She was receiving during class
[04:01] And it's insane
[04:04] Right. It's and she would you know, we would have conversations about it. It was fun, you know to have those conversations
[04:09] But it is insanity like but it's it's to be expected because you're lost
[04:14] Right. They're they're completely lost. And so their eyes are closed to who god is and what he has done
[04:19] and they would rather believe
[04:21] And and romans talks about this and we'll probably talk. We'll probably look at that. I get a matter of fact
[04:26] Let's look at that. All right, because it it wasn't going to use here, but that's okay. We're going to use it. It says this
[04:31] Because this explains these people the people who don't believe this
[04:36] It says the wrath of god is being revealed from heaven. This is romans. Uh 118
[04:42] Uh 323
[04:44] All right in chapter one Paul is saying listen the wrath of god is being revealed from heaven
[04:47] Against all the godliness and wickedness of the people who suppress the truth by their wickedness
[04:53] Since what me now, this is very important since what may be known about god is playing to them
[05:00] Because god has made it plain to them
[05:02] Right now that's a truth. I know that's a whole message, right?
[05:07] I mean that's about probably a year of messages there, but whatever for since the creation of the world
[05:12] That's what we're talking about today
[05:14] god
[05:16] invisible qualities
[05:18] His eternal power his divine nature have been clearly seen
[05:23] Being understood from what he has made so that people are without excuse
[05:28] Right and and and so you'll you know, i've heard the argument, you know from and from christians but from non-christians well, you know
[05:38] What kind of god there's people that never have a bible you say that all truth is in the bible and people don't have a
[05:43] Bible kind of god would send that person to hell if they've never heard because he has already revealed it to them the truth
[05:49] And we kind of know that right
[05:54] Well, I mean we know it from truth from the bible, but we feel it, right?
[05:56] I mean we we go to we go to the ocean we go to the mountains
[06:00] We go, you know, maybe we see a sunset right in our backyard and we have this thought of like
[06:06] wow
[06:08] When that points us to another verse where it says god has set eternity in the hearts of men
[06:13] Right. It's it's it's it's built within in us now. Some people are blinded because they don't know, you know
[06:20] They don't they don't, you know want to know
[06:22] But there's no excuse god says
[06:25] He says because here's and here's the part about like what i'm talking about college professors and that that indoctrinate all that stuff
[06:32] For although they knew god they neither glorified him as god nor gave thanks to him
[06:36] But their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened
[06:39] Although they claimed to be wise they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal god
[06:45] For images made to look like mortals human being and birds and animals and reptiles meanings. They they've set all their idols up
[06:51] damn, right
[06:54] I wasn't supposed to talk that much about that. But um
[06:56] I i'm just as we get into genesis
[07:00] It is it is vital for us if you claim christ
[07:04] Is to say yes, I believe I don't have I need to know all the facts ram and I were talking the other day how like
[07:09] like for us
[07:12] Like genesis easy like i'm like, yeah
[07:14] What it says god did it I believe it
[07:18] But you know some people it takes a little longer
[07:20] They have different kind of minds they want to they want to you know, think through things more and I think that's okay
[07:24] As long as you don't get to the point where you're like, uh, I don't know
[07:30] We believe that scripture
[07:32] Is wholly true
[07:34] right
[07:35] And so when we read this we say yes
[07:38] I believe lord and then what do we do with that? Right? Because if you really believe what this says
[07:44] Then it's more than just yeah. Yeah, that's good
[07:48] So let's pray and then we'll read it father
[07:52] Uh, thank you for the book of genesis
[07:55] truly
[07:58] Your grace is astounding that you would give us insight into the creation of the universe
[08:06] We do not deserve it
[08:11] And yet you say here
[08:14] See me see who I am see what i've done see what i've created
[08:21] And live accordingly father teach us what we do not know give us understanding
[08:28] Open our eyes to things that we may not have seen please
[08:32] We're excited lord open our hearts to what you would have us learn open our hearts to the areas in our lives that we are deficient
[08:44] We long to serve you and we long to serve you with an attitude of adoration and love
[08:55] Oh
[08:57] We just love you lord where you're so grateful and thankful that you are our god
[09:04] And you call us your own
[09:07] Jesus then we pray amen
[09:10] In the beginning verse one in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth
[09:16] The earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face
[09:24] Of the deep and the spirit of god was hovering over the face of the waters
[09:30] Wow, right
[09:33] God's not
[09:34] Now he's just like that and maybe because i've spent so much time reading that over and over and over again to this week
[09:41] That has hit me afresh. It's just hit me anew this week because i've been one of those, you know
[09:45] When I said hey some of us, you know, we're kind of told news
[09:47] And when I thought about doing that
[09:49] In the beginning and the more I read it and the more I looked into it the more god is like
[09:53] Do you know what you're reading?
[09:56] In the beginning
[09:59] Before in the beginning there was elohim god
[10:07] Interesting that the name here the hebrew elohim right signify strong god
[10:19] And of course anything less than a strong and almighty father and god right could not bring things out of nothing
[10:27] All right, do we get that right i'm not sure we understand when it says here
[10:33] In the beginning god created the heavens and the earth that god out of nothing created all things
[10:47] Elohim also speaks of plurality
[10:49] Right. It speaks of him as many although there is only one. That's how the hebrews would have said it
[10:54] right
[10:56] As as him being one, although there is many and we see this in this these verses
[11:01] We see the trinity to some degree
[11:03] Right. We see the spirit of god was hovering
[11:06] And as I we pointed out last week in john one we saw that jesus
[11:11] Is not just witness
[11:15] He is intimately
[11:17] involved
[11:19] But there's also another passage that speaks to this and this is in colossians
[11:23] When you study Colossians, so this should be familiar if you were with us during this study colossians 1
[11:29] 15 through 21
[11:32] Uh through 20. Sorry says this the sun is the image of the invisible god the sun being jesus
[11:38] The firstborn over all creation
[11:44] For in jesus all things were created things in heaven and on earth
[11:49] visible and invisible whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities all things have been created through jesus and for jesus
[11:59] Jesus before all things and in jesus all things hold together
[12:05] And he is the head of the body the church jesus is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead so that in everything
[12:12] Jesus might have the supremacy
[12:14] For god was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in jesus
[12:18] And through him to reconcile to
[12:21] Himself all things whether things on earth
[12:24] Are things in heaven by making peace through?
[12:27] His blood shed on the cross
[12:30] And so when we think of in the beginning
[12:34] And even eternity before that
[12:40] It's god the father god the son jesus and god the spirit
[12:45] All involved
[12:51] And so I love it because jesus is there and we think sometimes when we separate them so much sometimes we think okay
[12:57] God is the powerful one created. Jesus is the one that came to earth and took our sins and that's a mistake
[13:02] All right colossians says that jesus
[13:08] all
[13:10] Things have been created through him and for him
[13:14] So he is also the creator right
[13:20] I find it interesting right off the bat that these two verses represent my soul before christ
[13:32] Right
[13:35] I mean to think about this
[13:38] And god created the heavens and the earth
[13:40] And then the earth was without form and void and darkness over the face of the deep and the spirit of god was hovering over
[13:46] the face of the waters
[13:48] And my life before christ
[13:51] Was without form and void and dark
[13:54] And the spirit then became active right I remember I remember hearing the word
[14:02] And being pricked in the heart about it of needing a savior
[14:06] And then god brings new life creates new life out of this old voidless
[14:12] Dark life
[14:16] Now I am a new creation
[14:19] See and so genesis one one and two is also representative of your story and my story
[14:27] Because of god the father god the son and the holy spirit
[14:34] Hmm
[14:36] So in the beginning
[14:40] Right god
[14:43] I know
[14:44] Exist before all things right he's eternal and self-existent
[14:47] I know our heads kind of spin when we think of that because we you're fine. Yeah, we we're finite beings
[14:53] And so there's always a start
[14:55] And there's always an end
[14:56] We have a start to our life. We have an end to our life
[14:58] You know, we have a start to our job and hopefully we at some point in our life
[15:02] We'll have an end to our job and hopefully before we die
[15:04] We have a start to a day and end to a day
[15:09] And so we just that's and so when we hear self-existent right he was eternal
[15:16] He was there always our heads go
[15:21] And I say yes
[15:27] Sometimes those things are hard and we say well, thank you lord for being eternal
[15:33] And so we praise him anyway, even if we don't understand all things we say lord
[15:38] I believe I have faith god. I have faith that you have been there since forever
[15:43] When god brings
[15:49] What is amazing right? So god exists
[15:52] But then he brings the universe into existence or and the word that the word that is used is ex nihilo
[15:59] Which means out of nothing
[16:02] Out of nothing the word created there where it says in the beginning god created is the word
[16:09] bara
[16:12] Bara, right and that bara kind of may express creation out of nothing
[16:17] But it certainly does is not limited to that
[16:22] This this idea of just that's it created out of nothing rather
[16:26] Just it kind of it stresses it brings the idea that what was formed was new and perfect
[16:32] And the word is used throughout the bible bara, but it usually is used in context right only with god as its subject
[16:39] But interesting we get to we get to verse two and it describes really chaos
[16:48] right
[16:50] There was waste and void darkness
[16:52] over the surface of the deep
[16:54] And that phrase in in verse two kind of um
[16:59] Is vital to verse three, which we're not really going to get into too much
[17:04] But you know god begins creation. It's vital because
[17:07] Um
[17:12] Yeah, it's vital because it's it's it's telling
[17:15] the world's description
[17:18] right
[17:20] When god began to renovate it
[17:22] Right
[17:26] It was chaos of waste this emptiness and darkness
[17:28] Which is interesting because such conditions if you think about it should not result from god's creative work bara
[17:35] Right if bara is created means good and perfect. This doesn't in verse in verse
[17:42] Two doesn't sound really great
[17:44] Right
[17:48] The earth was without form and void and darkness over the face of the deep by the way darkness and light
[17:53] You know in the bible usually verse good and evil, right? We see that
[17:56] And so these conditions that verse two is talking about are interesting because it it it doesn't really describe god's perfect work
[18:09] Right and in the bible they are usually symptomatic of sin judgment
[18:16] Right
[18:18] And also god's creation really by command
[18:23] All right begins
[18:27] in verse three
[18:29] right
[18:31] The elements the the the not the elements but the the things we see I guess what darkness is an element, right?
[18:38] We can consider darkness avoid all that stuff. Whatever the things that we see in verse two
[18:43] Are literally corrected in three and on in verse three and on
[18:46] Beginning with light to dispel the darkness
[18:50] The expression of formless and empty in those words, right
[18:59] I think give us an insight
[19:07] In helping describe god bringing shape and form form right to the formless
[19:14] Right and and this this empty and void earth god is going to speak words
[19:21] He's going to speak things and words into existence
[19:26] Now
[19:34] I think some have you know, some people will say this is a middle stage of creation. This is one of the views
[19:40] right
[19:42] Uh, it's unfinished work of creation finished in verse two. It's unfinished work
[19:46] Uh, and then developed in verse 325 three to 25
[19:50] Uh into its current form, right?
[19:53] But if those who have studied the syntax and vocabulary of these, you know, these these verses
[20:01] Say that cannot be the case
[20:03] Others have seen a gap between the first two verses allowing right?
[20:06] They call it the gap theory allowing for the fall of satan in between verse one and verse two
[20:12] Right. Remember satan say, you know goes against god. He rebels against god and god kicks him out and you know
[20:18] and his and his minions demons
[20:20] And some people say okay that happened between verse one and verse two
[20:24] um, and again
[20:27] God doesn't really give us these answers, right? So it's kind of always interesting that people, you know like to have these things, you know
[20:33] But I you know for me, I think and I I like to tell people no you and you can disagree
[20:37] We've got talked about what we don't disagree on what we kind of this is a point that because god doesn't give it to him
[20:42] So in my mind on whatever but you know for me
[20:45] You know, it's it's more likely that I think verse one
[20:49] Um, and and and i'm not this isn't my worded. This is a man by the name of merrill
[20:55] Unger
[20:56] All right, uh on a commentary old testament. He says this he says it's more likely that verse one refers to a relative beginning rather
[21:03] Than the absolute beginning
[21:05] All right
[21:05] The chapter would then be accounted for accounting for the creation of the universe as man knows it not the beginning of everything
[21:12] And verse one and two would provide the introduction to it
[21:14] Right the fall of satan and entrance of sin into god's original creation would precede this which makes sense since darkness was almost always described
[21:21] as evil
[21:23] At the end of the day
[21:28] I don't know this guy doesn't tell us right and so I say
[21:33] God created the heavens and earth
[21:35] And why there was darkness why it was a void?
[21:38] I don't know. I just know he fixed it
[21:41] Right, and I believe it
[21:44] Interesting and we kind of talked about this in our lives that how when we come to christ the spirit right opens our eyes
[21:54] And we see it here was by the spirit that the god that god sovereignly created everything that exists
[22:02] In the darkness of the chaos
[22:04] The spirit of god moved to prepare
[22:06] The creative word of god
[22:11] And I like how it says it here it says the term the term is used hovering
[22:15] Hovering over you see that I I don't know if other translations say something different, but um
[22:22] It's that the spirit of god was hovering over the face of the waters and this idea of hovering
[22:28] think of an eagle with her babies
[22:32] And how she hovers over her babies and she cares for that's the spirit. That's what this word
[22:36] Signifies is hovering over
[22:38] And so it suggests care and preparation
[22:43] What I love about these verses I think it shows a few things right it shows god's power
[22:53] To bring order from chaos
[22:56] Light from darkness
[23:01] And it shows the role of the holy spirit in creation
[23:03] And literally the continued order of the world even to today
[23:07] And it foreshadows god's redemptive work, right again transforming chaos into order
[23:16] Matt henry said this
[23:27] If the work of grace in the soul is a new creation
[23:31] This chaos represents the state of an unregenerate graceless soul
[23:34] There is disorder confusion and every evil work. It is empty of all good for it is without god
[23:40] It is dark. It is darkness itself
[23:42] This is our condition by nature till alma almighty grace affects of blessed change
[23:47] You never read matt henry matthew henry
[23:51] And so in the beginning of my christian life
[24:01] God created a new heart, right?
[24:03] I said earlier
[24:05] And as I was thinking about these verses not long super short right in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth
[24:16] The earth was without form and void and darkness over the face of the deep the spirit of god was hovering
[24:22] Over the face of the waters
[24:25] Right
[24:27] I was thinking about things that christians disagree on and you know things that i've you know
[24:35] Had fun arguments with people, you know, just nothing major, but you know, just some fun stuff to talk about
[24:41] I thought you know, that's good. It's you know, it's good to have those keep your mind sharp
[24:46] And as I was thinking about the the
[24:51] Kind of the roots of our faith and genesis one is there's all
[24:55] When we'll get more into that as as we talk about creation and the different things in creation
[25:00] But I think some other things that we should not disagree on
[25:06] Is that
[25:10] And when I read this my my my thoughts went to those who do not believe those who actually say there is no god, right?
[25:17] atheists
[25:19] per se
[25:20] They know there's you know, they kind of say there might be something in my sight god, but definitely atheists, right?
[25:25] man evils
[25:28] It's evil
[25:32] And be and they're fools right? I mean we see that in romans
[25:35] I read one theologian said this they see there is a world that could not make itself and yet they will not own there
[25:43] Is a god that made it
[25:45] Yes, they are without excuse
[25:51] But they have been blinded by the god of this world satan
[25:54] But I don't want us to ever like sometimes christians I think sometimes we we we don't want to offend people with the truth
[26:04] But a god has spoken it
[26:09] Then truth and if he's and he has spoken it here then it is it is the only truth
[26:15] And we should not be ashamed
[26:20] It doesn't mean you know have to be a jerk to people
[26:22] But it does mean that you stay and so you don't like i've heard some people say well
[26:27] You know, I kind of kind of understand where you're coming from. I I don't understand where you're coming from
[26:32] Because god created it he said it it's done
[26:36] No
[26:39] And what i'm trying to say is that this world most of you know, we're into minorities
[26:44] about believing
[26:47] A god in god who created all things and is in all things. We are in the minority
[26:52] And the world hates us for it
[26:56] And that's exactly how it should be because god said it what jesus said the world will hate you
[27:00] right
[27:03] So if you speak truth
[27:05] In love but speak truth, you're still going to have people hate you like we hope we understand that
[27:11] That's one thing I know I went kind of long on that one
[27:15] The second thing is that god
[27:17] Is sovereign lord of all?
[27:20] Right, you can't read genesis one and go
[27:23] Sovereign over all things though
[27:26] Right if he is the creator then without a doubt he is the owner of the universe of heaven and earth
[27:34] And as such is sovereign over all things
[27:37] now
[27:39] I thought about that and thought
[27:44] A lot of preachers all ought to preach on because it's an interesting topic
[27:47] right
[27:50] We kind of mentioned it we kind of we've preached on a little bit in colossians
[27:55] I won't get back into it, but that thing that the god is sovereign over all things
[28:00] even
[28:03] Yes, even evil
[28:05] Sovereign or evil he's not the creator of evils
[28:09] Right. He does not sin
[28:13] There is no bad thing in him
[28:15] That should be something that we never disagree on
[28:24] And three that god that with god all things are possible
[28:31] Right
[28:36] And we know that that part's easy. We wait for believers. We kind of say oh, yeah
[28:40] And whether we truly believe we say it with god all things are possible
[28:43] but if that's the case
[28:46] How joyful should we be as christians since he is ours and we are his and he is the creator of all things
[28:53] And he is in all things
[28:55] How should that we should we not have great joy?
[28:58] Should our joy not be manifest like throughout because of that?
[29:04] You
[29:06] And I put note that says
[29:15] All help and hope all help and hope
[29:20] Stands in his name
[29:24] Right this creator
[29:26] Our hope our help
[29:32] Are with him because he is over he created all things he's over all things he's in all things
[29:41] So we have great joy
[29:46] And lastly that god we serve is worthy of honor
[29:52] Interestingly enough nehemiah nine five it says he he is exalted far above all blessing and praise
[30:01] Isn't that interesting?
[30:03] That god is exalted far above all blessing and and praise right and so basically and if you take that with acts
[30:11] Right. I think uh, let me see if I have actually yeah
[30:14] Yeah, yeah
[30:18] Says act 17 verse 24 says this the god who made the world and everything in it is the lord of heaven and earth and
[30:24] Does not live in temple built by human hands and he is not served by human hands as if he needed anything
[30:30] Rather he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else
[30:34] And I say that because he doesn't need our service
[30:38] He doesn't need us
[30:42] Yet he chooses out of his grace and mercy
[30:45] to love us
[30:48] And then say yes, I want you to serve
[30:50] Right
[30:55] Not benefited by it
[31:00] And so he he wants us to serve he wants us to praise although he's far above all praises
[31:05] He says still praise me because he is worthy
[31:12] The elodgion says if all of if all is of him all must be to him
[31:27] If all is of him all must be
[31:29] to him
[31:31] And so we trust in god's sovereignty because he is before all things and in all things
[31:35] We recognize the goodness and beauty of his creation and praise him in humble adoration
[31:41] Goodness and beauty
[31:52] We reckon do we recognize his goodness and beauty?
[31:55] Like do we really
[31:57] Because if we do then we would definitely if we truly
[32:02] See his goodness and beauty in creation in all things
[32:08] Created we will live purposefully and intentionally according to his design
[32:21] Man right we said one of the things we want to get out of this this study when we
[32:27] Walk out of here every sunday and when we get to the end of genesis is god
[32:31] you are
[32:33] Powerful you are good. You are amazing like we just can't even like the awe is too much for us
[32:41] And so we bow and we say lord I am not worthy
[32:49] Just even like lift my eyes to heaven and yet you tell me I can
[32:54] like
[32:56] This is the one who existed
[32:58] before all things
[33:01] Spoke words
[33:04] Made a word made words and then spoke words and then those words became things
[33:09] What I want to do today how I wanted to wrap it up
[33:18] I
[33:20] Show a little video short video
[33:22] And all it is is just some scenery really
[33:30] but it's not I found I you know, I love looking at like
[33:35] Scenery and you know things like that because it reminds me that eternity is in me
[33:42] It reminds me that god is powerful
[33:46] One of the things I hate is my is my personal opinion. Some of you are probably going to give me dirty looks on this
[33:50] Hey earth day
[33:53] Hey
[33:57] For the passion
[33:59] Because number one people don't know where it came from. It's unlike study
[34:02] Please christians before you put stuff about earth day, please understand where it came from. Okay
[34:07] But but also earth day is a celebration
[34:13] And a worship of earth
[34:15] Instead of the creator
[34:21] Instead of the creator
[34:26] We had god creator day you have to be every day right then i'm all for it we love it
[34:35] But we take what the world says and then we kind of try to make it our own i'm like don't
[34:43] God created earth and then wants to be praised and worship because of it
[34:47] And if you celebrate earth day i'm not trying to i'm just saying maybe if you if you don't know where it came from
[34:56] You should probably look into it and
[34:58] all I say is
[35:00] You know being good stewards of the earth. Yes, but worship the creator not the not the created
[35:05] And all we do not just on that day and any day
[35:09] worship the creator and so
[35:12] What I want to do is watch this video while you watch it
[35:15] All right, you don't have to pay attention. I'm going to be reading
[35:17] This is a short again. It's just some scenery pictures
[35:21] all right
[35:22] And i'm going to read from job
[35:24] Job is you know the guy who?
[35:27] You know god allowed satan to do some some work on him, right?
[35:32] And he suffered suffered greatly
[35:35] and so in his suffering
[35:38] His friends come and you know, they talk about god and advice and it's it it doesn't honor god
[35:44] And god's not happy about it
[35:47] And he comes to job and he says
[35:50] He said the lord spoke to his chapter 38. I'm only going to read chapter 38. Although it goes on
[35:54] The lord spoke to job out of the storm and he said this and i'll tell you when to start it
[35:59] I'm not doing it says who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge?
[36:05] now
[36:07] It's interesting because god has allowed him to go to great suffering and he's still gonna say uh
[36:12] Right gives up that's a whole different message. All right
[36:16] It says who?
[36:18] Who is obscures my plans with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man. I will question you and you shall answer me
[36:27] Basically, he's going to ask job all these rhetorical questions
[36:31] And job at the end is going to go. I spoke of things. I did not know and he you know
[36:37] Is covers myself in ash and just can't even
[36:40] So as I read this and as you watch this
[36:43] All I want you to do is be either thinking
[36:47] Do I honor the creator with my life my words my actions
[36:55] Do I give thanks and praise to the creator
[37:03] And this is just this is a minute two minute video of just you know creation is so much more
[37:08] But I I think it'll help stir the mind in the beauty that you see
[37:13] And as I read it's just god questioning job about different things about creation
[37:20] And if you find that maybe you've gotten cold some of
[37:25] What we've talked about cold to the creator
[37:28] forgotten
[37:32] Now is the time
[37:34] Thank god
[37:36] I've been thinking or doing or living things but do not honor the creator
[37:43] Who is this sorry verse four where were you when I laid the earth foundation you can turn it up
[38:00] Tell me if you understand who marked off its dimensions surely, you know
[38:04] Who stretched a measuring line across it on what were its footing set or who laid its cornerstone?
[38:10] While the morning star is saying together and all the angels
[38:13] Angels shouted for joy who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb
[38:18] When I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in its thick darkness when I fixed limits for it
[38:24] And set its doors and bars in place when I said this far you may come and no farther
[38:29] Here is where your proud ways will halt
[38:31] Have you ever given orders to the morning or shown the dawn its place?
[38:35] That it might take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it
[38:40] The earth takes shape like clay under a seal its features stand out like those of a garment
[38:45] The wicked are denied their light and their upraised arm is broken
[38:49] Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?
[38:53] Have the gates of death been shown to you?
[38:56] Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness? Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
[39:01] Tell me if you know all this
[39:03] What is the way to the abode of light and where does darkness reside?
[39:06] Can you take them to their places? Do you know the path to their dwellings? Surely, you know for you were already born
[39:13] You have lived so many years
[39:15] Have you entered the storehouse of the snow?
[39:17] Or seen the storehouses of the hail which I reserved for times of trouble for days of war and battle?
[39:23] What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?
[39:29] Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain and a path for the thunderstorm to water a land where no one lives?
[39:35] An uninhabited desert to satisfy a desolate wasteland and make its sprout with grass. Does the rain have a father?
[39:41] Who fathers the drops of dew from whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens when the waters?
[39:49] Become hard as stone when the surface of the deep is frozen. Can you bind the chains of ladies?
[39:54] Can you loosen orion's belt? Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons or lead out the bear with his cubs?
[40:01] Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up god's dominion over the earth?
[40:05] Can you raise your voice to the clouds and cover yourself with this flood of water?
[40:09] Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you? Here we are. Who gives the ibis wisdom?
[40:16] Who gives the rooster understanding? Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
[40:20] Who can tip over the water jars of the heaven when the dust becomes hard and the clouds of earth stick together?
[40:26] Do you hunt for the prey for the lioness and satisfy the hunger of the lions when they crouch in their dens or lie and wait in a thicket?
[40:34] Who provides food for the raven when it's young?
[40:38] Crying out to god and wander about lack of food?
[40:42] Hmm
[40:45] Job's answer again
[40:52] Because god is the one who did all these things and is continuing and never right and so he's asking questions that cannot be answered by job
[41:01] And job realizes at the end who
[41:07] He's talking to and who it is and he can do nothing but just kind of bow and put his face in the dirt
[41:14] Because of this powerful creator
[41:19] And lastly
[41:24] Let me remind you this
[41:26] Truth that this creator what you've seen here what you read what we've read today
[41:34] Would humble himself the creator and come to earth born of a virgin
[41:39] He would live a hard life
[41:44] And then around the age of 33 this creator
[41:53] Would go into an upper room with some of his closest friends
[41:59] The creator would take out a towel and begin to wash his creations feet
[42:04] And as i've heard it said before he the creator this jesus
[42:16] Would care for the tree
[42:21] That he eventually would be crucified on and would care for the soldiers who would eventually beat him
[42:27] He would wash the disciples feet and then he would go to the cross and be nailed
[42:36] To a wooden cross with thorns jammed into the creator's head nails into his hands and feet
[42:42] to take
[42:44] our sins
[42:46] All the evil that we have done all the things that we do and he took them on the cross
[42:54] And
[42:56] Then he would be buried and then this powerful god who created all things would raise him from the dead
[43:04] And he would defeat death
[43:07] and so that those of us who put our faith in jesus cannot should not and
[43:13] really can't
[43:16] shouldn't
[43:17] fear death any longer
[43:19] Because it has been defeated by the creator
[43:22] Do
[43:24] You know this creator do you know the savior have you forgotten?
[43:29] In revelation it talks
[43:33] jesus
[43:36] Comes to john and he said I want you to write these things down
[43:39] And he goes through the churches a bunch of churches
[43:41] And he gives you know
[43:43] He tells most of the churches some things are doing good and some things that they're not and they need to fix
[43:47] But one of the churches he tells them remember
[43:50] Your first love
[43:52] Have you forgotten
[43:57] My prayer is that if you are have forgotten or your life seems like it has forgotten that you will remember in the beginning god
[44:08] And remember
[44:14] The words it is finished
[44:16] From the creator on the cross let's pray and then let's worship father
[44:20] I'm overwhelmed by this passage
[44:26] And I have no words
[44:32] Except to say that you are almighty
[44:37] Elohim
[44:45] May we live lives of praise
[44:47] Because you alone god are worthy
[44:51] May our lives reflect your great love for us may our lives reflect your great power
[44:59] And humbly lord we say
[45:10] Thank you
[45:13] For your creation
[45:15] Thank you for your great love thank you for your mercy
[45:20] We see your great power
[45:23] And we shudder to think what life would be without your mercy
[45:26] And grace
[45:30] May we never forget
[45:33] And now as we sing lord
[45:37] Would you hear this praise
[45:42] And be pleased
[45:44] For you alone are lord god almighty
[45:48] In jesus name we pray amen
